Shroud Relic Man Made

Scientists have reproduced the Shroud of Turin-- revered as the cloth that covered Jesus in the tomb -- and say the experiment proves the relic was man-made, a group of Italian debunkers claimed Monday.

The shroud bears the figure of a crucified man, complete with blood seeping out of nailed hands and feet, and some believers say Christ's image was recorded on the linen fibers at the time of his resurrection.

Scientists have reproduced the shroud using materials and methods that were available in the 14th century, the Italian Committee for Checking Claims on the Paranormal said.

The group said in a statement this is further evidence the shroud is a medieval forgery. In 1988, scientists used radiocarbon dating to determine it was made in the 13th or 14th century.

But the dispute continued because experts couldn't explain how the faint brown discoloration was produced, imprinting on the cloth a negative image centuries before the invention of photography.

Many still believe that the shroud "has unexplainable characteristics that cannot be reproduced by human means," lead scientist Luigi Garlaschelli said in the statement. "The result obtained clearly indicates that this could be done with the use of inexpensive materials and with a quite simple procedure."

The research was funded by the debunking group and by an Italian organization of atheists and agnostics, he said.

Garlaschelli, a professor of chemistry at the University of Pavia, said in an interview with La Repubblica daily that his team used a linen woven with the same technique as the shroud and artificially aged by heating it in an oven and washing it with water.

The cloth was then placed on a student, who wore a mask to reproduce the face, and rubbed with red ochre, a well known pigment at the time. The entire process took a week, Repubblica said.

The shroud is first recorded in history around 1360 in the hands of a French knight -- a late appearance that is one of the reasons why some scientists are skeptical of its authenticity.

Measuring 13 feet (4 meters) long and three feet (one meter) wide, it has suffered severe damage during the centuries, including from fires.

Owned by the Vatican, it is kept locked in a special protective chamber in Turin's cathedral and is rarely shown. The last public display was in 2000, when more than 1 million people turned up to see it, and the next is scheduled for 2010.

The Catholic Church makes no claims about the relic's authenticity, but says it is a powerful symbol of Christ's suffering.

The shroud has been strongly debated within the scientific community. Some researchers claim that patches used in the Middle Ages to repair the cloth after a fire altered the carbon-dating results.

Another study, by the Hebrew University, concluded that pollen and plant images on the shroud showed it originated in the area around Jerusalem sometime before the eighth century.

Garlaschelli told Repubblica he didn't think his research would convince those who have faith in the shroud's authenticity.

"They won't give up," he said. "Those who believe in it will continue to believe."

This year's inductees include Bishop T.D. Jakes, BeBe Winans, Myrna Summers, Dr. Wyatt T. Walker, Bill "The Mailman" Walker and Willie Mae Ford-Smith.

The induction celebration will be held on Oct. 31, at the Max M. Fisher Music Center in Detroit and will be hosted by Jeff Majors.

Mercy….Oh Please!

This is a new show appearing on the ABC. Slotted for prime time airing I watched the show hoping to be drawn into a world of saving faith. Wow! I have seen better acting and writing on the day-time soaps. The show is center around Veronica played by Taylor Schilling, who after coming back from Iraq suffers from PTS. On meds she struggles to find the balance in her life while attempting to save her marriage by committing adultery and chasing after men. Her co-workers aren’t that much better one is dating a doctor, and after being attacked by a patient decides to sleep with a police officer who has been pursuing her. The other co-worker seems to a wholesome young lady until the end where she follows suit and pursues the bartender injured in a fight. So if you are into adultery, alcohol, drinking, fighting, loose sex with bad acting and writing this is the show for you! God help us if this is art imitating life.

If you are really into medical shows I believe Hawthorne is a much better show. The main character is played by Jedi Pinkett-Smith where she continues deal with the lost of her husband, while raising a teenage daughter coupled with an overbearing mother-in-law. I like the way they deal with the issues of life without resulting to cheap acts to get ratings. The acting is better and writing is realistic. They push to the edge of social topics without going overboard. Judge for yourself. Remain Bless

On another note the tribute to Patrick Swayze was touching. He was not only a great actor, but now that I think about a great dancer. Patrick lost his fight with Pancreatic Cancer last week. He will truly be lost. Upcoming actors should take a note on how he handle himself in the Hollywood light.

Public Confession

Jesus said, "Everyone therefore who shall confess Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever shall deny Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven." (Matthew 10:32,33). Public confession was a way of showing everyone within view where your loyalty resides. Peter denied Christ three times, but later realized that he should never be ashamed of the gospel of Christ. Fore we know it is the power of God to everyone who believes first to the Jew then to the Gentles. Most Christian based faiths have baptisms and in the days of John the Baptists it was used as a public display of one repenting from a sinful life. It was not the act that save sinners but the belief in the Messiah.

The only account of a pubic-death bed confession involved one of the thieves on the cross along side of Christ. Jesus said to the thief on the cross who repented "Today (Present tense) you will be with me in paradise" (Luke 23:43). This thief was neither baptized nor partook of the Lords supper he believed and was promised to be with Jesus.

So today, give thought to your public confession. I know some are saying “I have been baptized” More specifically, I am speaking of how you walk, talk and present yourselves to others. Does the light in you reflect the oath of faith in God the Father through Jesus Christ? Do not be dismayed, the devil does not want this. But if you would share your faith in Christ by voice, and actions you too will reside in His house of peace and paradise always.

He's been called "the Quincy Jones of Gospel," and besides being one of the best-selling instrumentalists in Christian music, keyboard player Ben Tankard has justified his tag, producing many stellar gospel projects as well as serving as an executive vice-president at Tribute Records, for which he has recorded extensively. Born in Florida to a minister father and a missionary mother, he began playing drums in church at the age of three. He later graduated to tuba and was offered several music scholarships to college, though he eventually accepted a basketball scholarship instead.

Tankard endured a rough period of depression and homelessness when a knee injury prevented him from turning professional (though he was drafted by the NBA). A visit to a revival service put him on the right track, an almost overnight, he became a very talented keyboard/organ player. Tankard began his witness in song with 1990's Keynote Speaker, recorded for Tribute Records. If you’ve been searching in the R&B section of the music store for the latest release from soul singer Anthony Hamilton you’re searching in the wrong place. The Charlotte, North Carolina native recently has found success in the gospel music arena with the popularity of his song “Pass Me Over” from his latest project, “Ain’t Nobody Worryin’.”

The song is in heavy rotation on many gospel stations. And it highlights Hamilton’s spirituality and what he says is the foundation for his secular career.

“It comes from my grandmother. It’s a way of life from the south that I adopted. My mother taught me to uplift God’s name and to never be ashamed to show respect for God and for others,” Hamilton told Gospel News in a recent interview.

Anyone who’s attended one of Hamilton’s concerts knows that the setting can easily transform into a church service complete with gospel music and holy dancing. He says his concerts are spirit-filled because it’s a reflection of who he is.

“First, I am a man of God. Because of who I am, I have a right to do that. There’s no need for me not to.”

“There’s still times where I’m like, I do want kids and I very much love women.’ But at the same time, I think we have to be honest as to what it is that we have affinity for at the time. And I think, because of the situation that I experienced with the first marriage, that I would have to say that I lean more toward the same sex. before I say ‘this is what I am, this is the only thing I’ll be,’ I’ll say AT THIS STAGE, this is what it is. So everyone can just breathe and relax on your show and say, Tonex said, ‘yes, he’s attracted to men. Yes, he has experienced gay sex before. But that’s the least of who this man of God is.”

Lexi concluded with the following remarks; “It is my belief that man is made for a woman, and woman is made for a man. I believe the Bible speaks clearly about this. However, as a journalist, it is my job to tell the story. And as a Christian, it is my job to LOVE unequivocally and unapologetically.”

I submit that we all as Christians have struggle with the flesh and come short of God’s glory. It is by His grace we are saved, least we stumble and become so foolish in our thinking that we have obtained salvation by our own works. Our relationship with the father is the greatest love affair and the love letter is the bible. And within it He has given instruction on how to maintain this relationship and how to care for those who have turned their back on what is written. We must endeavor to protect my Lords freedom of speech, which is clearly written and confusingly interpreted without the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Wrong is wrong and sin is sin and this is the totality man at his best without the saving grace from a heavenly Father that brings forth salvation without works. God is not mock and stories like this show why we must continue in prayer. Remain Bless

It was last year when I thought I was about to take my last breath. I have always been, for the most part, a very healthy individual. Always active and on the run I continued my work in the Information Systems field as an engineer. I return to weight training and began power lifting. At 6’1 270 lbs and only 15% body fat I would say I look pretty good. One day back in June I completed a dead lift of 400 plus pounds. I felt good afterwards and went straight home. While I was home I noticed my ankle began to swell. Thinking nothing of it I continued with my day. The very following day my ankle was so swollen I could barely get my tennis shoes on. During this time I experience no pain. So, I soaked my feet and elevated them as needed. Within two weeks I began experiencing horrible pain and a fever that would not go away. I sought relief through rest and pain relievers. Once I noticed that I could not shake the fever I immediately sought help from my primary care doctor.

My visit to the doctors office was uneventful, he prescribed an antibiotic. Two weeks later I was still no better. I began to lose weight and fevers were persistent. After noticing abnormalities my doctor sent me to a specialist. This specialist told me that the activity seen was indicative of Cancer. My numbers were around 50 and normally they see no higher than 15. By this time I had lost more weight and the pain was becoming uncontrollable. What could this be? Scared and confuse I postpone my exploratory surgery for October 2008. Meanwhile, I sought the help of God, family and friends. I was in need of spiritual intervention. I lost my job and had no income. I could not shake the pain and had about 12 visits to the emergency room. Not long after my list visit to the emergency room I called my surgeon and moved my surgery date up to early October. By October I have lost more weight going from 270 down to 215. The steroids the doctor gave me help some, but drained what little energy I had. Problems with my eyes increased and the doctors continued to run all types of blood work. They could not find one positive result and were just as baffle as I.

Days of Troubles

Monday, the day of my surgery I was very scared and did not want to go through with it, but the pain I experienced pushed me to the table. I felt as though I was dying. The surgery was completed and behold the surgeon reports I did not have cancer. I thanked God, even though the doctors still did not know what was wrong. I went home feeling blessed and physically week, but the next day I lost my sight in both eyes! Rushed back to the hospital I was admitted. And of course they ran all sorts of test again and confirmed that the blood vessels to one of my eyes had ruptured. The doctor told me I would have to stay in the hospital as long as needed until they could find out what was going on with me. It was Tuesday, and I told the doctor to do whatever he had too, but come Friday I was leaving. I had a Church Convention going on and Friday was the last day and I did not want to miss out on closing service. Wednesday, I was told that I had to continue the steroids for possible Sarcoidosis and that I was possibly dying, but “we all have to go sometime from something.” I was told one attending physician. I began preaching about my divine purpose and promise from my Father through Jesus Christ. The doctor left so fast out of my room I did not realized he was gone until after I finished preaching the word of God! By Thursday the doctors came back and said I had a possible hole in my heart. The emotional rollercoaster was almost to much to handle. I prayed and my brother prayed with me. I could not accept a problem with my heart when I never had a symptom. Thursday evening I underwent another procedure that allowed doctors to get a better look at my heart. Afterwards, I was told my heart was fine. They told me that I might have bacteria attacking my brain, so they had to do a spinal tap. It was negative!

So, from Monday having surgery and faced with possible cancer, to Tuesday losing my sight, Wednesday being told I was dying, Thursday being informed my heart was bad. But Friday, physically weak but renewed in spirit by grace from on high I walked out of the hospital under divine power. With full control of my body and perfect 20/15 sight I understood the battle.

Thirty Day Battle

While I was in the hospital. I received a call from a prospective employer. They wanted to hire me and had been trying to contact me for weeks. I could not believe it. Here I was laying in a hospital bed and they want to hire me. I thanked God, but the devil attempted to shift my focus on the my physical weakness. Nevertheless, I told them I accept before I was discharged from the hospital. It took 30 days for them to complete my background check. This is divine intervention. Because I was not capable of working. I went through so many changes after my release from the hospital. I had good days and bad. It hurt just to stand and I had to force myself to eat. It was the first week of November and I cried out to God with a broken body, damaged emotions and weakening faith. I had everything to lose…See, I began ministering in 1996. I preached in large and small churches. I’ve experienced the good and the bad of “church folk”. I had become all things to all men and sinned against God. Basically, I stopped preaching and witnessing, but continued as a believer behind closed doors. Once the doors had no confirmed answers for me. I cried to God because I was undone. I was not ready to meet him knowing I had not walked with purpose in my calling. I asked God to forgive me and I told Him I would use whatever time he granted me on this earth to sever him fully. It did not matter God had delivered me from sickness, and walked me out of the hospital. He wanted me to have a closer walk with Him and so through the thirty day recovery process Jesus broke me down. And in doing so, I drew closer to him. My actions to draw closer to Him was simply out of fear. Fear that I would not see my family or friends, but most of all fear that I had not walked in my calling. within days of calling out my physical strength returned. By the next week I was eating like I had never before. I knew I was healed and by Thanksgiving I was able to stand and walk for longer periods without any signs of weakness. The doctors continued to run test. One day the Cardiologist simply utter God has healed me. We prayed and rejoiced in his office and I knew God was at work. I have never heard a doctor proclaim the power of God before a patient. My weight returned and the employer who offered me a job stated I passed their background check. How, I wondered with a damaged credit rating.They even decided to wait for me until I was strong enough to start, another 30days out! God is great! What employer waits nearly 60 days for new employee during this economy? I declared my healing in Jesus name and returned to work. Now I am not saying the devil has not tried me since, but I continue by grace and faith in Jesus everyday!

Present Day Blessings

Today I live everyday by the grace and blessing of God. I have continued to spread the gospel via various media outlets and speaking engagements whenever asked. It is not over until God has the final word.

Ephesians 2:10“For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

That is correct. No matter the circumstances for those called by faith in Jesus our destiny has been prepared in advance that we might bring honor to the Father. Honor to His name through the struggles, through the ups and downs of this life God has equipped us to endure. Equipped us by handing us the victory by His blood. I decree I am more powerful today by faith in Jesus than ever before. Take inventory of your life. Measure the weight of situation set before you and know that God has prepared you to endure. Therefore, claim your victory in Him and have faith on fire!

Faith That Changes Things

Hebrews 11:1“[By Faith] Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.”

Faith, that word we hear so often in conjunction with believe, or the phrase “think positive”. It is so easy to have faith and a positive outlook when things are going well. It is harder to be positive when the world around you is falling apart. Faith must be rooted and established in a strong conviction, or belief. To have faith in your own abilities can lead one down a road of destruction. But for the those under the Christian faith we understand that our faith is rooted in a higher power. Our faith is rooted in someone who is far greater than ourselves. We believe that faith established in God through Christ Jesus allows us to change the world we live in. To handle and affect our pre-destiny in Him. This is the faith that changes things, the faith that effects the world. So if you faith is not rooted in a higher power as in Jesus your faith is not faith at all because truly you only believe in yourself. Be bless!

A Fathers' Promise

We celebrated yet another father’s day. Fathers have the difficult job of assisting mothers with raising our next generation. Unfortunately some many fathers have failed to maintain this important role within the family core. Our children have suffered and as a result some many feel neglected. But there is hope. During Jesus’ ministry he spoke often about the Father’s promise to act in a time of need, comfort in a time of hurt, and counsel in a time of emotional distress.

"If you love me, then keep my commandments. And I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another comforter to be with you forever. His is the breath of truth. The world does not accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you will know him, for he will dwell with you, and in you.

I will not leave you comfortless….

I have many more things to say to you, when the breath of God has come, he will guide you into all truth, for he will not speak of himself; but whatever he hears, that he will speak, showing you those things that are to come…

He will praise me and glorify me, by revealing my glory to you. All the Father's glory is mine as well. This is why I am able to make this promise to you: the Spirit will reveal my divine nature to…

When the Comforter, the Spirit of truth, whom I will send to you from the Father, has come, he will testify of me. He will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I have told you.”

These are divine promises which all earthly fathers should learn from. And the lesson is this; stand by what you promise. In this world the society judges on three things primarily: One your credit, which is your promise to pay, two your driving record, which represents the law and your promise to obey, thirdly your word, which is your bond. It solidifies all words that represent you.

Gospel Music Pushes The Limits

Gospel Music over the years has transformed the music industry. With sales in the millions artist like Kurt Franklin have been ridicule by traditional church communities. Some believe we must reach the youth by all means necessary, but this should not come at the cost of transforming traditional worship. I personally have heard and witness testimony from those who believe that we have lost our way by bringing such songs into the local church. There are different view points on this issue. The argument over this music and what is acceptable and what is not has caused us to lose focus on what is true worship. True worship is not found in noise made by instruments, or in the tempo in which they are played. True worship is found in the silent-noise of the spirit, the expressive words utter by mouth by those who call on Jesus out of a sincere heart and mind. So if there are those who want Kirk Franklin and those who desire hymnals let whatever affections of your heart be expressed in truth and spirit. We are not box into the realm of the carnality which represents Christian Music with white brothers and sisters and Gospel music with only black artist. We are of a royal-priest hood that doesn't recognize music genres, because that which is of the spirit is not bound. Remember this the next time you hear worshipers singing onto the LORD with sounds that you are not accustom to hearing.

I leave you with this. Did you know that the word worship is not synonymous with playing music or singing songs in the New Testament? Yes, worship can take place at anytime, anywhere and come in any form. Worship can take place while listening to the Preacher, while listening to music, while walking in the park or while working around the house. Worship is when we place our mental and physical abilities on the personifications of the Holy Spirit. Mentally you are to be awed by His greatness. And during this time instructions or a word of knowledge may come forth. The important fact is worship in truth and spirit. God Bless!

Principle Workings of the Holy Spirit

There are thirteen principles believers must understand to remain in the presence of the Holy Spirit. These thirteen principles are clearly printed in the New Testament Bible, but many believers simply over look them. Prayerfully, I hope this enlightens the children of God as we seek to know Him through the power of His resurrection and the anointing of His Holy Spirit.

As we recall the Spirit of God came upon Jesus like a dove and remained with Him as John testified in the wilderness. But have you notice the Spirit doesn’t always remain with believers? Why is this? Often times we grieve the Holy Spirit with carnal thinking or the speaking of unkind words.

The bible uses the example of a Dove to represent the Holy Spirit did you know that pigeons and doves are from the same family, but act totally opposite of one another? Pigeons easily come to humans, doves shy away. Pigeons are boisterous when food is offered and do not scare easily. Doves on the other hand fly away at the first sign of loud commotions and will wait to eat its’ food in peace. Pigeons are easily tamed by humans, doves are virtually impossible to tame. So it is with the Spirit of God. If believers act contrary to the word of God the Holy Spirit can not remain with them.

How do will remain in presence of God the Father through the Holy Spirit? By following the principles outlined in the New Testament.

1. First believers must be born of the Sprint. John 3:7 “You must be born again…So it is with everyone born of the Spirit” To bring forth the rebirth a sinner must believe in the promises of God and repent with a sincere heart and profess by mouth Jesus Christ is Lord.
2. Believers must receive Father’s Counselor. John 14:16 “and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever.” This Counselor is the Holy Spirit.
3. Believers must open their hearts to receive counseling and teaching from the Holy Spirit. John 14:26”But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said.”
4. The Holy Spirit testifies about the Father and believers must testify as well. John 15: 26-27 “When the Counselor comes…He will testify about me. And you also must testify”
5. Believers must understand the Holy Spirit comes to convict the world. John 16:8 “He will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment.”
6. Believers must yield to The Holy Spirit guidance. John 16:13 “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth.”
7. The Holy Spirit fulfills the believers’ joy! John 16:22 “your grief will turn to joy…No one will take away your joy.”
8. The Holy Spirit will speak through believers. Matthew 10:19-20 “do not worry about what to say or how to say it….for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.”
9. The Holy Spirit commissions believers for ministry. Matthew 28:19 “Therefore go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit.”
10. The Holy Spirit gives believers unlimited access to the Father’s blessings upon asking. Luke 11:10 “For everyone who asks receives, he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.”
11. Believers must not speak against the Holy Spirit. Luke 12:10-11 “But ANYONE who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.” This is because the Holy Spirit encompasses the Father and Son. Some have spoken against Jesus and others against the Father. With sincere repentance those individuals can be save. But for those who speak against the Holy Spirit, which encompasses them both, as the ambassador to God’s kingdom there is no forgiveness.
12. At times believers must wait upon the Holy Spirit to move, showing us what the Father’s plan is for our lives. Acts 1:4-5 “wait for the gift my Father promised…in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”
13. The Holy Spirit validates the believers as witnesses to all ends of the earth. Acts1:8 “you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Understanding and following these steps will lead to deeper fulfilling relationship with Holy Spirit; therefore, bringing you as a believer to greater understanding of God the Father. And remember this level of understand surpasses the limited canal mind of man.

Dear President Obama, you have brought together our country in ways not seen since the days of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. For 45 years the citizens of America were reminded of this African-American Leader's dream of equality and hope pursuant of happiness for all men and women. Generations both young and old have come to realized that the way our government operates must change. You have promised change with the help of the American people behind you. You have promised to protect our way life with assurance that government as we know it today will change how it conducts business and remain for generations to come.

A dream of racial equality has come to America. The audacity of hope has blanketed every American house hold. Our people can work together for a better tomorrow and we can affect change when challenged. During this state of change, this moment of optimistic hopes and endeavors I am reminded that my dream remains. My dream remains, that government will no longer spend billions to bail out corporate America without first bailing out the American People. The home owners who struggle to maintain their way of life while their home values continue a downward fall. The homeless, hungry and hopeless citizens I see everyday does not have to be if my government would increase spending to help its people. My dream remains that politicians will no longer campaign on the hopes and struggles of American citizens only to conduct business as usual once elected into office. My dream remains on the promised to bring American soldiers home from Iraq to reunite their families and honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice. My dream remains when gas prices continue to go up and the American people suffer while the government refuses to release oil reserves to lower cost. Yes Mr. President my dream remains when our educators are met with opposition and challenged in unrealistic ways to help our Children. My dream remains for the social security program to make through the next decade. My dream remains.

Powerless Parenting

During this time and age, more now than ever, we have to regain the power that exists in effective parenting. With the recent university shootings America has had the opportunity to examine other public school shootings and to do what is necessary. What does it take to win back control of an out of control educational system? My guess is reaffirming the need for active parenting. Now administrators are re-thinking the open campus concept as they think of additional measures to keep students safe. It has been a systematic approach to stripping parents and educators of their power to guide and protect our students, our children. We can no longer discipline our children in public for fear of prosecution. Teachers can no longer discipline students in class rooms for fear of the same recourse. We can no longer discipline our children in comforts of our own homes. The powerless parents are more evident today as they are bounded by laws that restrict them of their God given duty. Yet, the focus of discussion groups always yields the burning question during the aftermath of a tragic situation “Where were the parents?” They are at home knowing what it takes to control their own, but feeling powerless to do anything about it. Welcome to the world of powerless parenting. It only exists if we allow it.

Problematic Society

It has occurred to me, as in times past; with the shooting in Northern Illinois that America as beautiful as she is has so many hidden problems. We are quick to debate or join the fight to help others who are oppressed and half step the results. Play the cards that are in our favor and forget those suffering both here and afar. Our children suffer poor education though living the so call American dream. The land of the free, poor, oppressed and greedy could be additional terms to describe us. Gun control is a heated argued debate. No one can predict the actions of others. We can only learn and attempt to put into place measures that protect our way of life. We endeavor to make safe a gruel society that only appears perfect on the surface. Who are we? We are the United States of America the land of the free, just and problematic society.
